Our Vision & Mission
Happy Owl’s vision is to contribute to the emerging shift in the durability, life-span and environmental impact of consumer goods. Right now, the consumer-goods market is dominated by planned-obsolesce products with short lifespans that end up in land-fills. As a result, only 1% of materials sold to consumers are still in use 6 months after their date of sale. Millennials are driving a shift toward future-proofed, upgradable products made of renewable/recyclable materials, and created with sustainable production methods. We believe that product designers and manufacturers who embrace these philosophies early on by introducing goods that are made to last, in which technological advances are planned for with upgradability by design, will be rewarded for their foreword thinking.
Happy Owl’s mission is to design, manufacture and market innovative products that integrate emerging technology into daily life by elegantly combining style, functionality and forward-thinking sustainability.

Our Team
Devon Read - Chief Executive OfficerDevon has been a Marine Corps Infantry Sergeant, a member of Apple’s Creatives team, and a visual-effects artist on a number of Hollywood features, including an Oscar winner. He likes beer with his bacon and eggs on Sunday morning and likes to tell the story of the time he had meetings at The White House, The State Department and the Speaker of the House’s office all on the same day. He dreams of the day when his iPad mini will serve as his personal assistant a la the Knowledge Navigator. He’s been known to drive 3 hours for a burrito from his childhood favorite taco shop and he can’t help but dance when Billy Jean is playing.

Amy Oliveira - Chief Creative OfficerAmy is an artist and a storyteller. She started reading W magazine from her bunkbed - when she was barely taller than the magazine. She has worked as a writer and director of theatre and film and she loves words in general and gets twitter-pated over clever uses of alliteration and onomatopoeia. She is a food activist and equal-rights champion who is so obsessed with interior design that she sometimes dreams about wall-paper. She wishes she was a better skateboarder.

Ryan Jordan - Chief Design OfficerRyan has spent time as a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America, managed film and theater productions in Hollywood, worked for the Sundance Film Festival and assisted in research and development for the Marine Physical Laboratory at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He was also an actor, but we won't hold that against him. His sporadic resume might resemble the 9th subplot of any Ionesco play, but that's really why we love him. In his down time he likes to sail a secret spy ship that travels the oceans saving the world from evil doers.
