Happy Owl Studio Unveils New 'I'm a Mac' Apple Ad Spoofs
Venice, CA - Amid the flurry of activity in mid-April as Happy Owl Studio concluded its iPad 2 giveaway and released sneak peeks of its iPad 2 cases, the creative Venice Beach design company quietly posted a video spoofing Apple's iconic 'I'm a mac, I'm a PC' ads. What began with modest traffic and attention, began to swell with the release of a second spoof as thousands watched and shared the hilarious videos. The third video in the series is now live.
The spoofs feature two attractive women who introduce themselves as iPad, and The Clutch by Happy Owl Studio. The videos depict the pair meeting, getting to know each other, and most recently, meeting other Happy Owl Studio cases. The lust of the first spoof matures to love as iPad and The Clutch are overcome, again and again, with the realization that they are truly meant for each other.
"We had a blast making these spoofs," said Devon Read, CEO and Co-Founder of Happy Owl Studio, "we were indie filmmakers before we started Happy Owl Studio, so this was just play for us. We called up a bunch of our friends and in one day, with lots of lipstick re-applications later, the whole series was in the can."
While a look at the comments shows a very enthusiastic response from most viewers, for some, the videos may go too far. "There have been a few comments and posts asking whether our spoofs are offensive," said director or the series Amy Oliveira. "All I can say is that we are telling a love story. iPad and The Clutch are perfect for each other. Their love may be unconventional, but love is love. Plus, we thought they were just hilarious."
Meanwhile, the videos continue to spread on Facebook and twitter. Happy Owl Studio plans to release a new one each Tuesday, until the whole series is live.
